You wont believe which state has the most!
When you think of weed and dispensaries you usually think of Colorado or Oregon and perhaps California.
But Oklahoma has the most dispensaries per capita of any state in the United States. As of 2021, Oklahoma had the largest number of dispensary licenses, with almost 4 million residents and at least 2,000 state-licensed medical marijuana dispensaries. Oregon follows closely, with the most dispensaries per capita of any state, and other states with a high number of dispensaries per capita include Montana and Colorado.
What is the Legal Status in Oklahoma?
In Oklahoma, cannabis is illegal for recreational use but legal for medical use with a state-issued license. The state legalized medical marijuana in 2018 through State Question 788, making it the 30th U.S. state to do so. Under this law, individuals with a medical marijuana license can legally possess up to 3 ounces of marijuana on their person, 8 ounces in their residence, and can also grow up to 6 mature marijuana plants and 6 seedling plants. Additionally, they are allowed to possess up to 72 ounces of edible marijuana and 1 ounce of concentrated marijuana. Smokable forms of medical marijuana can be legally consumed by license holders in any place that allows smoking, while edible forms can be consumed anywhere. However, all forms of medical marijuana are still considered illegal under federal law. The state has the most dispensaries per capita of any state in the U.S., with at least 2,000 state-licensed medical marijuana dispensaries as of 2021.
